Anyone currently (or in the future) teaching AP physics... there are changes coming to the AP B exam. Jim provided links about the coming changes.

Cindy

On 10/4/12 1:31 PM, Jim Andrews wrote:

Hi Cindy,
I think that physics teachers on the YAPA mailing list might be interested in hearing about the recent developments relating to the AP exam(s) for the algebra-based sequence. In a nutshell, the current AP-B exam is to be replaced by two exams, one primarily dealing with 1st semester mechanics topics (and some simple circuits) and the second primarily dealing with the other EM, optics, thermo, modern, etc. topics that would usually be considered part of the second semester course. This collaboration has led to a decision to replace AP Physics B with two new courses, AP Physics 1: Algebra-based and AP Physics 2: Algebra-based. The new courses have been endorsed enthusiastically by higher education officials and will benefit all members of the AP community. AP will begin offering the eagerly awaited courses in the 2014–15 academic year, and will discontinue the AP Physic B program following the 2013–14 academic year.

Jim

--
James H.
