Dear Colleagues,

At last week's meeting of the Ohio Faculty Council (OFC), Chancellor Eric
Fingerhut discussed the importance of Issue 1 on the State of Ohio's May 4th
ballot. You may already know that Issue 1, if approved, will renew and
continue the highly successful Ohio Frontier Program, from which prior
funding has been awarded to YSU. Passage of the current ballot measure will
provide additional potential resources for our region's long-term economic
well being.

At the meeting, the OFC passed a resolution not only endorsing Issue 1, but
also requesting that all institutional representatives support the ballot
both fiscally and by communicating the importance of Issue 1 with their
respective campus communities. Towards that end, I am asking members of the
Academic Senate continue the support of Issue 1 that you demonstrated last
week by approving a similar resolution of endorsement. Certainly, your
actions, along with like endorsements from the YSU Board of Trustees and the
YSU Student Government Association, are greatly appreciated by the
Chancellor and the OFC. I also ask that you share your support with others
across campus as well in the community.

To learn more about Issue 1 or to make a contribution supporting this ballot
measure, visit www.UnitedJobsforOhio.com. On behalf of Chancellor Fingerhut
and the OFC, I thank you for your consideration.

Chet Cooper, Chair
YSU Academic Senate
